Keys to Attract Clients

Keys to Attract ClientsHow do you attract clients? Good question! First, I strongly believe that you need to identify your ideal clients. Too many entrepreneurs have not taken the time to identify who is their best client. This results in the "Everyone is a great client for me" Syndrome. This comes from a place of scarcity. If you feel like narrowing your market will reduce the number of people you can work with, you’re wrong. By focusing your efforts, you will be able to reach more people with a more effective message.

Here are several keys to attract clients:

Key #1: Identify Your Ideal Clients

The first step is to simply identify who your ideal clients are. Your ideal clients may be your existing clients. That would make it very easy to find more clients like them. Otherwise, it’s going to take some time to identify who else would be ideal for you.

Key #2: Find Your Ideal Clients

Once you know who your ideal clients are, you can turn your attention to finding them. There are many strategies to find your ideal clients, both online and offline. Some strategies may be free, others may require some investment.

Key #3: Communicate with your Ideal Clients

One of the most important keys to marketing your business is to develop a compelling message. Your message can be used on your website, in email, direct mail, marketing collateral, social media, etc. The point is that you take time to develop a message that speaks to your market, to your ideal clients.

In a recent speech to the American Marketing Association, I talked about niche marketing strategies that small businesses can use to attract clients. Niche marketing focuses on identifying a clear target market often combined with serving an unfulfilled need.
